I use listening skills to help you the client make your own decisions and find your own solutions to your problems.
I offer a collaborative flexible approach to counselling where you, the client, can choose the best option for you. I offer face-to-face, indoor and outdoor counselling, as well as online and telephone counselling. I will create a safe space with you and offer support tailored to your individual needs. I will help you identify whatever challenges you are facing, so that ultimately you can flourish and then thrive.
We will work together to identify and explore your thoughts, emotions and patterns of behaviour that are not serving you well and getting in the way of you living a meaningful and enjoyable life. We will work towards thriving and continual growth and lasting change which is essential for effective therapy.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a hands-on approach engaging the client and it has a lot to offer in terms of variety. CBT focuses on exploring the interaction between thoughts, feelings, behaviours and bodily sensations and teaches clients techniques to apply to themselves. These techniques include cognitive, behavioural and problem solving within a structured talking therapy which aims to achieve goals (Beck, 2020).
Evidence suggests that CBT is better for depression in both men and women. When people get depressed, they tend to think negatively about most things and develop unhelpful thinking patterns. CBT also uses psychoeducation, which is aimed to give the client knowledge of the theoretical model based on cognitive behavioural conceptualization (Beck, 2011).
Evidence shows that psychoeducation is an effective treatment because the process of learning about their problems and coping skills for the client can be the start of recovery. Clients can continue to apply their learning outside therapy sessions, and It’s based on the idea that practice helps clients to get better (Owens, 2014).
